Exhibit at Governors State University and Elgin Public Library. Multi-media presentation in concerts across Chicagoland
2023
Multi-media Projected artwork

The members of the Jewish Artists Collective Chicago, in collaboration with the Jewish Community Centers of Chicago, have created art to commemorate the Violins of Hope event. The eight visual artists: Berit Engen, Alan Hobscheid, Ellen Holtzblatt, Judith Joseph, Carol Lezberg Neiger, Beth Shadur, Jane Weintraub, Dorit Jordan Dotan, responded to the violins in the collection and the accompanying stories to testify to the strength of spirit of the musicians who played these violins and loved their instruments and their art. The range of media in the artwork includes watercolor, tapestry, woodcut, oil paint, ink drawing, multi-media sculpture, and digital media. These photos (by Powell Creative Services) are from one of the performances of Violins of Hope with artwork from JACC members projected behind the musicians—hosted by JCC Chicago and other partner organizations is coming to Chicagoland and surrounding areas across Illinois from April through September 2023.
